The Icelandic Fisheries Exhibition opened on 13-15 September 2017 at the Smárinn, Fifan Halls Kópavogur, Iceland.
A must attend event for all commercial fisheries organisations and associated businesses, Icefish hosts the latest developments from the industry showcasing new and innovative products and services, covering every aspect of the commercial fishing industry from catching and locating to processing and packaging, right through to marketing and distribution of the final product.
Around 500 companies, products and brands were showcased over the three days by exhibitors from 22 different countries including Denmark, Norway, and the Faroe Islands.
First-time exhibitors were in attendance from around the world including Spain, Turkey, Germany, Peru and Singapore, from businesses including shipyards, netting producers and reduction gear manufacturers, many with a worldwide reputation and track record of supplying the Icelandic fishing industry.
The 7th Icelandic Fisheries Awards and the 2nd Icefish Conference also both took place as part of this year’s exhibition.
The Icelandic Fisheries Awards took place on the evening of the opening day of the show, 13 September, in Gerðarsafn, Kópavogur Art Museum – invitation only.
Taking place on 14 September, the Icefish Conference focused on ‘Fish Waste for Profit’; an aspect the Icelanders are in the forefront of mastering. Including topical seminars presented from the Icelandic pioneers in by-product reutilisation, ‘Fish Waste for Profit’ explores the fish waste pyramid of value, highlighting the various innovative uses that make by-product reutilisation a viable method of increasing profits.
